Manu & Harpreet - Indian wedding

Vorige maand trouwden Manu en Harpreet op traditionele Punjabi wijze. Het huwelijk duurde een hele week en wij hebben over een aantal dagen verspreid verschillende ceremonies gefotografeerd. Het was kleurrijk, het was groots, het was druk, het eten was overvloedig en geweldig, de ceremonies waren bijzonder (hoewel we er natuurlijk maar weinig van verstonden), de feesten waren uitbundig en zo kan ik nog wel even doorgaan. Maar het belangrijkste was toch wel dat de bruid en de bruidegom én hun families door dit prachtige huwelijk nu officieel deel uitmaken van elkaars leven.
Last month, Manu and Harpreet tied the knot in traditional Punjabi fashion. Their wedding took place over the course of a week and we photographed several official functions during the week. It was colorful, it was great, it was crowded, the food was plenty and delicious, the ceremonies were very special (even though we didn't understand most of it), the parties were exuberant and I could go on and on. The most important part of it all, though, was that through this wedding, the bride and groom ánd their families are now officially part of each others' lives.

Dina en Mike - feestavond in Leiden

In deze post heb ik al uitgebreid verteld over de geweldige huwelijksdag van Dina en Mike, maar hun trouwdag eindigde met een spetterend feest en daar wil ik toch ook nog één en ander van laten zien.
In this post, I already talked about the great wedding day of Dina and Mike, but their wedding day ended in a fabulous party and I'd like to show you a few things from that night.

Alle feestgasten verzamelden in de feestzaal van De Burcht en toen het al lekker druk was kwamen Dina en Mike juichend binnen.
Dina and Mike made a grand entrance when most of their party guests had assembled in the party hall of De Burcht.

De enthousiaste Dick Raat verzorgde de muziek op zijn bekende wijze, met veel humor en lekkere nummers.
Dick Raat was responsible for the music in his own unique way, with lots of humor and great songs.

De eerste dans:

Dina en Mike terwijl door Dina's ouders en vervolgens door haar broer een klein boekje werd opengedaan over Dina.

Daarna werd er weer volop gedanst. Dick Raat speelde ook op het bedrijfsfeest waar tussen Dina en Mike voor het eerst de vonk was overgeslagen en hij wist zich nog te herinneren dat er toen iets was met een aantal collega's en het welbekende nummer YMCA... Daar moest natuurlijk even op ingespeeld worden!
After that it was time to rock on on the dancefloor. Dick Raat also played at the corporate party where the first sparks hit between Dina and Mike and he remembered something about a few co-workers and the well-known hitsong YMCA... And he obviously had to play on that!

Terwijl het op de dansvloer druk bleef, zetten wij in een hoek van de feestzaal de mini-studio op. Dat was gelijk een groot succes, iedereen was in voor leuke en gekke foto's. Hier een paar foto's om te laten zien hoe dat er uit zien!
And while the guests kept dancing on the dancefloor, we set up our mini-studio in a corner. It was an instant success, everyone was ready to goof it up in front of the camera. Here are a few shots to show you what that looks like!

Christina en Wasek - huwelijksceremonie in Mariënhof Amersfoort

Christina en Wasek komen allebei oorspronkelijk niet uit Amersfoort, maar ze hebben daar hun draai prima gevonden, met leuk werk en een mooi huis. Maar wat nog veel belangrijker is: ze hebben daar elkaar gevonden!
Neither Christina or Wasek is originally from Amersfoort, but they found their way in the city, with fun jobs and a beautiful home. But more importantly: it's where they found each other!

's Morgens was Christina thuis en ze was de rust zelve. Haar zus en haar beste vriendin hielpen haar met aankleden. Ze had een fantastische Spaanse bruidsjurk die geweldig bij haar paste.
Christina was home for her getting ready and she was calm as can be. Her sister and her best friend helped her to get dressed. She found a fantastic Spanish wedding gown that looked so good on her!

Wasek kleedde zich om op zijn kantoor. Alleen. Met zijn gedachten. En zijn zenuwen. Dit was immers de grote dag, de dag dat zijn liefde voor Christina en haar liefde voor hem voor eeuwig bezegeld zou worden.
Wasek got dressed in his office. By himself. With his thoughts. And his nerves. As, really, this was his big day, the day that his love for Christina and her love for him would be sealed for ever.

De huwelijksviering was in het mooie Mariënhof nabij het centrum van Amersfoort. We hebben eerst bij Mariënhof zelf een aantal foto's gemaakt en zijn daarna de stad ingelopen.
The wedding celebration took place at Mariënhof near the Amersfoort center. We took a few photo's at Mariënhof before walking into the city for our photoshoot.

Christina wist dat wij dol zijn op sluiers en had daar speciaal rekening mee gehouden door een enorme sluier te kiezen. Helemaal geweldig!
Christina knew we love veils and that's why she got this huge veil. Totally rad!

En vooruit, nog eentje met de sluier. Moooooiii!
And, oh well, another one with the veil. A-maaa-zing!

Daarna was het tijd voor de ceremonie. Christina en Wasek spraken hun eigen huwelijksgeloften uit. Hier zit Christina nog snel even haar tekst door te nemen, terwijl ze met haar vader wacht op het moment dat de ceremonie begint.
And then it was time for the ceremony. Christina and Wasek wrote their own wedding vows. This is Christina looking through her words one more time, while she and her father are waiting for the ceremony to begin.

De dienst werd geleid door freelance pastor Wil Koolhof, die er een fantastisch mooie dienst van maakte, met ontzettend veel symboliek. Echt prachtig.
The mass was led by freelance pastor Wil Koolhof, who held a beautiful ceremony, with lots of symbolism. Absolutely wonderful.

Christina kreeg een extra dosis wierook.
Christina received an extra dose of incense.

Met hun beider kaarsen stak het bruidspaar hun huwelijkskaars aan, midden in de cirkel van aarde. Alle elementen kwamen in de dienst aan bod.
In the middle of the circle of earth, the bride and groom lit their wedding candle with each of their candles. All the elements were featured.

Het ritueel waarbij de handen van bruid en bruidegom aan elkaar verbonden werden.

Na de ceremonie was er tijd voor felicitaties, bruidstaart, champagne en... het gooien van het bruidsboeket!
After the ceremony, there was time for congratulations, wedding cake, champagne and... the throwing of the bridal bouquet!

Tijdens het diner werd het buiten langzaam donker. De binnenplaats van de Mariënhof was schitterend uitgelicht.
During dinner, the sun went down and the courtyard of Mariënhof was beautifully lit.

's Avonds was er een groot feest. Met band...
